Tier One Automotive Driveshaft/Axle Supplier
A local supplier decided to stop producing contract parts for this customer and provided 30 days notice. Our customer was left with minimal time to build a bank of product and orchestrate the transfer to another supplier. The previous supplier recommended Waukesha Tool & Stamping and allowed us to review the tooling at their facility. The customer sent representatives to our plant, reviewed our processes and arranged for the transfer of 27 dies within two weeks of notice. We validated production capability and provided PPAP submissions within three weeks. Our customer was so satisfied that when yet another supplier failed; they contacted WTS to assist them with the transfer of 65 tools. We sent a program manager to the supplier’s facility to assess the tools. Most of the tools were not capable of producing the parts to print and required extensive tool repair or modification. Through it all, we kept the customer in production while working to upgrade tooling or implement permanent engineering changes to print specifications.
Custom Seals and Precision Rubber Molded Products Supplier
When this customer decided to eliminate in-house capability, they turned to us to complete one transfer program of 180 part numbers. We were awarded the transfer package in late 2007 and completed the transfer of all part numbers in the third quarter of 2008. To meet the needs of the customer’s clients, a transition team comprised of the customer’s and Waukesha Tool & Stamping personnel planned and executed the transfer in a phased approach. Validation of process capability and certification to quality requirements was led by a WTS program manager. To ensure a seamless transition, weekly meetings were held with the transition team to assure the transfer timeline was met and appropriate quality/engineering documentation was completed for each part. We completed numerous on-site and self-directed quality audits from our customer’s clients. In the end, our customer’s decision to entrust us with their transfer created a lasting, beneficial relationship, strengthening their business.
Telecommunications OEM
This existing customer experienced poor quality and delivery from another supplier. That supplier provided a complete assembly utilizing parts that we had historically produced. At the request of the customer, we accepted the entire production responsibility for this assembly to mitigate the delivery and quality problems. We were able to complete the transfer and validation of the assembly within two weeks of the tools moving to our facility. This transfer included tools and assembly machines in various states of capability. Our engineering, tool room and maintenance personnel repaired and improved the process capability within four weeks of transfer. With the highest caliber of service, our team was able to take a negative situation and create a positive end result for our customer.
